Gender and Equity Budgeting Training
To strengthen capacity of government technical staff in gender and equity budgeting so as to shift from the traditional technical approach of non-consideration of gender and equity issues while preparing respective sector budgets. The approach is to have gender responsive budgets where issues are addressed through both “universal programmes” as well as specific targeted interventions
Course Objectives
- Appreciate the concepts of gender and equity
- Appreciate the role of theories in explaining gender and equity budgeting
- Understand the meaning of gender disaggregated data and how it can be used for policy formulation, planning and budgeting
- Gain knowledge in engendering respective sector budgets and plans
- Appreciate the importance of integrating gender and equity dimensions into monitoring and evaluation
