Advanced Food Safety Management, Pesticide and Antibiotic Residue Analysis.

Ensuring the safety and quality of food products is a critical public-health, regulatory and economic responsibility. The increasing use of agricultural chemicals, veterinary medicines and other inputs across the food production chain creates a continuing need for effective food safety management systems, reliable residue monitoring and scientifically sound laboratory analysis.

The Advanced Food Safety Management, Pesticide and Antibiotic Residue Analysis programme is designed for professionals responsible for food safety regulation, quality assurance, laboratory analysis, inspection, public health, agricultural production, standards enforcement and food supply-chain management. The programme provides an integrated understanding of food safety management and the scientific and regulatory principles governing pesticide and antibiotic/veterinary-drug residues in food.

The training will examine how organisations can establish and strengthen food safety management systems, hazard identification, risk assessment, preventive controls, traceability, monitoring, verification and corrective action across the food chain. It will also address the technical requirements for effective residue monitoring, from sampling and sample preparation through analytical testing, interpretation of results and regulatory decision-making.

Particular emphasis will be placed on pesticide residues, antibiotic and veterinary-drug residues, maximum residue limits (MRLs), exposure assessment, food-safety risks, laboratory quality assurance, analytical method validation, quality control, detection limits and interpretation of laboratory results. Participants will also explore emerging challenges such as antimicrobial resistance, changing food-production practices, imported food controls and new contaminants.

Through practical case studies, laboratory-oriented exercises, regulatory scenarios and group problem-solving, participants will strengthen their ability to identify food-safety hazards, design effective residue-monitoring programmes, evaluate analytical results and support evidence-based regulatory action.

The programme will ultimately contribute to stronger consumer protection, regulatory compliance, food-chain integrity and public confidence, while improving institutional capacity to prevent, detect and manage food-safety risks associated with chemical and veterinary-drug residues.
